MetDESK® - Special Needs Financial Planning Services
Special Needs Planning with Anthony Recck

Financial Services Representative
MetDESK® Specialist
MetLife’s Division of Estate Planning for Special Kids

MetDESK® is committed to helping families through the maze of legal and financial complexities that surround planning for the future of your child or other dependent with special needs. The fact is that only ten percent of parents have planned sufficiently for their child’s future. Many people are unaware that there is a federal law that says, if you leave a person with special needs over $2,000, he or she will automatically lose eligibility for most government benefits. That is a federal law; each state has its own limits.

The MetDESK® team has deep roots in advocacy. Over sixty percent of MetDESK® specialists from around the country are either parents of children with special needs or have close relatives with special needs. As the father of a daughter with special needs, Anthony Recck has a very personal commitment to the MetDESK® program and in helping parents in similar situations to his own. When his daughter, Mackenzie was diagnosed with apraxia at the age of five, it became his personal mission to help as many families as possible and after being introduced to the MetDESK® program, he knew it would be a perfect fit. Anthony’s life experience has taught him that parenting a child with special needs takes special planning. There are specific needs that will always be present and you must consider and prepare for them. Taking the proper steps today can help ensure your child’s security for tomorrow.

Each family is as unique as each situation. The special needs planning process begins with a complete review of your needs, goals and future care plans for your child, assessment of government benefit eligibility and a review of your family’s current financial and legal plans. Critical issues that are addressed include the ways that a special needs trust can preserve government benefit eligibility; choice of trustee, guardian, conservator or client self-determination and advocacy training if appropriate; and appropriate funding vehicles to fund a special needs trust. The next step is to review a variety of options available and recommendations for implementation that work with your families unique needs. Finally, referrals to other knowledgeable professionals will be made whenever possible.

The extensive training and continuing education MetDESK® provides its specialists allows them to keep pace with the continuous changes in the law and learn new planning strategies. As a MetDESK® specialist, Anthony will work with you and a qualified attorney to ensure that the right financial and legal strategies are in place in order to build financial freedom and protection for your loved one, even when you may no longer be there to serve as an advocate. As a result of his involvement in the special needs community, Anthony is also able to provide useful information on matters outside of the MetDESK® program.
